Steel Trees Erected for American Eagle Outfitters
November 30, 2007

Boswell, PA (November 30, 2007) Somerset Steel Erection Company recently erected two of these steel trees outside the new corporate offices of American Eagle Outfitters in Pittsburgh, Pa. The field installation was performed by Somerset Steel representatives who brought all the equipment needed to complete the intricate design and the final placement of the trees at AEO headquarters.
Lincoln Contracting & Equipment detailed and fabricated the trees for artist, Kathleen Mulcahy and Ron Desmett. The company's design draftsmen used state-of-the-art TEKLA 3D software to model the artists' rendition of the "moving" branches. One tree measures 40 feet tall with a diameter of 25 feet and the other tree stands at 25 feet with a 13 foot diameter. Both trees are made of structural steel beams that were painted to match the building's exterior.
Kathleen Mulcahy lives and works in Oakdale, PA with her husband and partner, Ron Desmett. This team co founded the Pittsburgh Glass Center, an internationally recognized non profit organization for the glass arts. For the past 15 years, they have worked as independent artists on projects for installation in private glass collections, homes, corporate offices, public art projects and solo exhibitions throughout the United States. Kathleen and Ron have won many awards including grants from the National Endowment for the Arts, the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts the Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation and the Fulbright Foundation.
